Plain concrete flatwork costs about $6 to $12 per square foot installed across the country in 2026. We do not print an Atlanta price list. Two driveways of the same size can be very different jobs here, because one is flat and open and the other drops 15 feet from the street between two houses.
The price ranges on this page are national figures published by HomeGuide for 2026. They are not quotes from us. In Atlanta the slope of the lot, the red clay under the slab, truck access and local labor and material prices all move the number. Last checked October 2026.
How much does a concrete driveway cost?
The national range for a concrete driveway is $6 to $15 per square foot, or $2,400 to $8,600 for a two-car driveway. Plain gray concrete is $6 to $10 per square foot and basic decorative work is $10 to $15. Atlanta driveways are often long and steep, so measure the real length before you compare your number with a two-car figure.
| Driveway | National installed cost |
|---|---|
| Plain, per sq ft | $6 to $10 |
| Basic decorative, per sq ft | $10 to $15 |
| 20x20 (400 sq ft) | $2,400 to $6,000 |
| 24x24 (576 sq ft) | $3,500 to $8,600 |
How much does concrete cost per square foot?
A concrete slab costs $6 to $12 per square foot installed, by the national figures. At 4 inches thick the range is $6 to $8, and at 6 inches it is $8 to $10. That covers forms, base, concrete, finishing and labor. Breaking out old concrete, pumping over a house or down a hill, and extra stone to replace soft clay are added when a site needs them.
How much does a concrete patio cost? Is my 20x20 price fair?
A plain concrete patio runs $4 to $12 per square foot nationally. Stained or stamped, it runs $8 to $30. For a plain 20x20 patio the published range is $1,600 to $4,800, and for a stained or stamped 20x20 it is $3,200 to $12,000. A plain 12x12 is $600 to $1,700. For a 12x20 or 16x20, work out your square feet and multiply by the per-foot range. A back yard that falls away from the house may also need a short wall or a thickened edge, which is priced on top.
How much does it cost to pour a slab for a 24x24 garage or a 30x40 shop?
HomeGuide publishes $600 to $1,200 for a 10x10 slab, $2,400 to $4,800 for a 20x20 and $5,400 to $10,800 for a 30x30. It has no row for 24x24 or 30x40. Plain arithmetic on its $6 to $12 per square foot figure gives $3,460 to $6,900 for a 24x24 (576 sq ft) and $7,200 to $14,400 for a 30x40 (1,200 sq ft). Those sums are ours, not a published row. A building slab also needs footings, and on a sloped Atlanta lot the grading to make a level pad can be a large part of the job.
How much is a yard of concrete?
Ready-mix concrete costs $119 to $147 per cubic yard nationally, with delivery up to 20 miles included. That is only the material in the truck. Forming, base stone, steel, placing and finishing make up most of what you pay, so a per yard price is a poor way to judge a finished job.
How much does it cost to remove and replace an old driveway, with the old concrete hauled away?
Add two figures together. Removal costs $3 to $8 per square foot nationally with disposal included, or $1,200 to $4,500 for a whole driveway. The new driveway is then $6 to $15 per square foot. We handle tear-out and haul-away ourselves, and when a replacement needs it the cost is written into our quote.
How much does stamped concrete cost compared with plain, and what about color or stain?
Stamped concrete costs $8 to $19 per square foot nationally. Plain work is $6 to $10 for a driveway and $4 to $12 for a patio. Published examples are $3,200 to $7,600 for a 20x20 stamped patio, $6,900 to $10,400 for a two-car stamped driveway and $800 to $1,700 for a 4x20 stamped walk. HomeGuide gives no separate upcharge for color or stain alone, so we do not quote a number for it here. It is priced once we have seen the slab and you have picked the look.
How much does a concrete walkway cost?
A concrete walk costs $7 to $17 per square foot installed, nationally. At 4 feet wide that works out to $28 to $68 per linear foot, and $1,400 to $3,400 for an average job. Steps add to that. We have no published figure for concrete steps, so they are priced after a site visit, and many Atlanta front walks have some.
How much does a concrete retaining wall cost?
The national average for a concrete retaining wall is $3,000 to $10,000. By size, that is $45 to $270 per linear foot, or $15 to $45 per square foot of wall face. Walls are a routine part of hillside lots here. Height, what sits above the wall, the drain behind it and whether an engineer's drawing is required decide where a wall lands.
How much does a parking pad or sidewalk cost for a small business?
We give no number for commercial parking, because no published figure was available to us. A small business job is priced after a site visit. Vehicle weight, drainage, the accessible route to the door and any work in the city right of way each change the design. For a plain walk, the walkway range above is a fair starting point.
My three quotes for the same patio are far apart. Which one do I trust?
Trust the one that tells you exactly what will be built. When quotes are far apart, the difference is nearly always below the surface: how deep the clay is dug out, how much stone goes back and how it is compacted, how thick the slab is, what steel is in it, and how water is led away. Line the three up and compare those items. If a quote does not state them, ask. A low price that leaves them out is not cheaper. It is just not finished.
The contractor wants extra for a gravel base after demolition. Is that fair?
It can be, if it was agreed in writing first. Nobody sees the ground under an old slab until the slab is gone. In Atlanta the crew may uncover saturated clay, a washed-out void or an old stump hole, and replacing that with compacted stone costs real money. A careful quote names a unit price for extra base before work starts. If someone asks for extra for a gravel base with nothing on paper, go and look at the ground with them and have the change written down before you say yes.
How do I know if a concrete quote is fair?
A concrete quote is fair when it falls within the published range for that kind of work and shows what the money buys. Check for square footage, thickness, base depth and compaction, reinforcement, joints, finish, drainage, removal, permit and cleanup. Read the payment terms too. Then ask the question that matters most on a hilly lot: where will the water go?
